Rising Star Award
A nominee for the Rising Star Award should be an individual who has demonstrated exceptional growth and potential within the first TWO (2) years of their profession. This person consistently takes on increased responsibilities and shows a deep commitment to advancing their career and contributing to the HCC. They should exhibit leadership qualities, initiating projects, and driving positive change. Their path should reflect not only personal success but also a broader impact to the HCC, organization, or community, making them a standout emerging leader.
Excellence in Collaboration
The ideal nominee for the Excellence in Collaboration Award should be someone who goes above and beyond to foster a collaborative environment. This person recognizes the value of collective wisdom and works tirelessly to bring diverse voices to the HCC. They excel at facilitating teamwork, ensuring that all members feel heard and respected, and that decisions are made through thoughtful deliberation. Their contributions should lead to stronger, more effective outcomes, and they should be known for building bridges, resolving conflicts, and uniting the HCC toward common goals.
Excellence in Service
A nominee for the Excellence in Service Award should be someone who exemplifies dedication to serving others. This person consistently places the needs of the HCC, its members, and the community above their own, demonstrating a deep sense of responsibility and commitment. They should be recognized for their reliability, loyalty, and the positive impact they have through their service, particularly in times of crisis. Their actions should reflect a profound understanding that the strength of the HCC is built on how well it serves those who depend on it.
Excellence in Innovation and Leadership
Nominees for the Excellence in Innovation and Leadership Award should be visionaries who challenge the status quo and inspire others to do the same. This individual should be recognized for their ability to envision a future that is different from the present and for their commitment to turning that vision into reality. They should demonstrate an ability to create and communicate a strategic plan, rallying others around a shared goal and empowering them to take the necessary steps to achieve it. Their leadership should be marked by creativity, courage, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
Legacy Award
The Legacy Award is reserved for an individual who has made extraordinary contributions throughout their profession. This individual should be in their current profession for a minimum of TEN (10) years. A nominee should have a distinguished record of professional achievements, demonstrating exceptional skill, integrity, and dedication. They should be a person of high moral character, whose influence extends beyond their profession into their personal life and community service. Their career should be marked by consistent excellence and a lasting impact on their field, leaving a legacy that will be remembered and honored by future generations.
Best Practice Award
A nominee for the Best Practice Award should be an individual or team that has successfully implemented practices within their organization or discipline that significantly improve efficiency, effectiveness, or quality. They should demonstrate a commitment to excellence by setting a standard that others aspire to follow. Their approach should be innovative, evidence-based, and lead to measurable improvements that can be replicated or adapted by others in the field. This award recognizes those who lead by example and contribute to the overall advancement of their profession.
Emergency Response Excellence Award
Nominees for the Emergency Response Excellence Award should be individuals, teams, or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary performance in the face of a crisis. They should be recognized for their ability to act swiftly, decisively, and effectively under pressure, making critical decisions that have a significant positive impact on the outcome. Their actions should embody resilience, courage, and a deep commitment to protecting and serving others during an emergency. This award honors those who excel when it matters most, providing leadership and support in critical situations.
Training and Exercise Excellence Award

Their efforts should exemplify the value of strong, cooperative relationships and the impact that can be achieved through effective partnerships.
Heroism Award
​Nominees for the Heroism Award should be individuals, teams, or organizations that have demonstrated acts of bravery or exceptional service during an emergency. This award honors those who go above and beyond the call of duty, taking bold and selfless actions in the face of danger. They should be recognized for their courage, quick thinking, and determination to protect and assist others, often at great personal risk. Their heroism should have a profound impact on the outcome of the situation, embodying the highest standards of service and sacrifice.
