Apple's recent iOS 15.4 update prevents the PTS Dialer app from placing both WPS and WPS+GETS calls. WPS and WPS+GETS calls will work normally if subscribers dial manually without use of the app. GETS calls will work normally with or without the app.
Please immediately notify your iPhone users about this issue. We are actively working with Apple to address the issue and restore full functionality to the PTS Dialer. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, it’s the system that pushes those automatic notifications to your smartphone, announcing things like Amber Alerts. Until now, only a few types of high-end weather alerts were broadcast through the WEA (example: Tornado Warnings), and that list did not include Severe Thunderstorm Warnings. HOWEVER, effective August 2nd, that will change for some types of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.
As we all have so much going on, let us take a few moments to thank our 911 Dispatchers. They are always there for us and our communities and work so hard, especially now. This week is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. It's easy to forget those we don't see and easy to take for granted the hard and wonderful work they do behind the scenes.
