Just like yesterday, when the conditions deteriorated rapidly and a Winter Weather Advisory dropped on us unexpectedly, spring storms can do the same thing.&nbsp; One minute you&rsquo;re peacefully enjoying blue skies and sultry temps, and the next minute Mother Nature has churned up angry dark clouds with malicious intent. If you don&rsquo;t have a way to get informed, you may find yourself facing those storms exposed and far from shelter. &nbsp;Now is the time to make sure that:</span><ul style="color:rgb(98, 98, 98)"><li>You have identified reliable sources of information to give you a heads-up about upcoming bad weather days</li><li>Your NOAA weather radio is plugged in, has (good) batteries, and the weather radio switch is turned to &ldquo;ON&rdquo;</li><li>You have installed a cell phone app or signed up for a text alert service to instantly notify you of watches and warnings</li><li>You have ensured that your Wireless Emergency Alerts are enabled on your smartphone</li><li>You are refreshing your storm cloud knowledge &ndash; identifying the red flags in the sky that tell you a dangerous situation is developing (&ldquo;good clouds&rdquo; vs. &ldquo;bad clouds&rdquo;)</li></ul><span style="color:rgb(98, 98, 98)">&nbsp;</span><br /><span style="color:rgb(98, 98, 98)">There are lots of other preparedness steps too, like identifying shelter locations, pre-positioning disaster supplies (like medications, food, and water), and drafting a family evacuation plan.&nbsp; But if you don&rsquo;t have a way to get notified that bad things are coming, the rest of that stuff may become irrelevant.&nbsp; Make your &ldquo;information plan&rdquo; your first priority as you prep for storm season!<br /><br />&#8203;Source: Keri Korthals, Butler Count Emergency Management</span><br /></div>]]></content:encoded></item></channel></rss>
