Our keynote speaker, Dr. Abo is passionate about partners preparing together as evidenced in his current roles as: Emergency Medical Physician - Toxinologist - Medical Director Miami-Dade Search & Rescue Team - Venom I & II Response Teams - Instructor for Wilderness EMS for the Urban Community - Medical Director for Gainesville Fire Rescue, Sanibel, Captiva & Pine Island Fire Control - Associate Medical Director for Sarasota County - Urban Search & Rescue Physician for Southwest Florida Task Force.

Preparing for Chemical & Radiological Emergencies

Two professionals will cover this important topic to assist in readiness. Mr. Lane Sekavec, CHMMChemical Release Specialist with the Union Pacific Railroad will start the session with an overview of emergency response and specific measures to be taken by local communities in a hazmat situation.
Mr. Jason Meinholdt, Supervisor with the KDHE Radiation Control Program will introduce participants as to the nature of potential radiological releases and appropriate response. Both of these sessions will be important to Healthcare Coalition members, not only for practical daily operational response readiness, but also for each coalition as they prepares to write a Chemical & Radiation Response Annex for their Emergency Operations Plan.

Dr. Jessica Kalender-Rich will present, Building Bridges Across the Continuum and will discuss the importance of communication and collaboration across state, systems of care and ways we can optimize these transitions for the benefits of both staff and patients alike. This includes sharing some published tools for communication and discussion how they can be applied.

The Co-Owners of the Healthcare Coalition Partners of KS, LLC will lead this first-ever Statewide Healthcare Coalition Meeting. Danielle Marten and Tami Wood will assist members in creating the new Radiation and Chemical Annex for the Emergency Operations Plan. There will be lots of opportunities for collaboration between various disciplines on a statewide level to create a well-rounded response. You’ll not want to miss a moment of this exciting presentation and work session.
